The Engineering Project Manager (RES) role is comprised of two areas of responsibility; project specific and department specific. The project specific responsibility is to ensure the technical integrity of multiple projects, including compliance with project scope, job specification, engineering design, and meeting client's requirements. The Engineering Project Manager (RES) will be responsible for the design and engineering of modular refrigeration and other industrial process systems. The Engineering Project Manager (RES) is also responsible for ensuring that the delivered products comply with the Customer’s specifications and requirements; national, regional, and local codes and standards; corporate codes, standards, and work requirements.
The departmental responsibility is to assist the Project Engineering Manager to ensure the timely execution of projects, timely delivery of packaged equipment, and ensuring that TAS process standards are being followed by the Project Engineers. This includes assisting in the establishment of project schedules, interfacing with internal and external customers, ensuring that the delivered products comply with the Customer’s specifications and requirements; national, regional, and local codes and standards; corporate codes, standards, and work requirements.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage multiple projects
- Responsible for the sizing and selection of mechanical equipment such as compressors, pumps, line sizing, basic instrumentation, etc. and ensuring timely completion of required deliverables.
- Review customer specifications and make recommendations for modifications and changes to job specific deliverables.
- Work with customers to insure agreement and understanding on all technical project details.
- Conduct basic design of complete systems based on standards and practices
- Check engineering drawings / shop details for conformance to standards and practices..
- Assist both Project Management and the Customer Service Manager and technicians to solve field related problems.
- Assist with maintaining all design guides, design standards, and fabrication standards.
- Manage vendor/fabricator progress, quality, inspection and delivery
- Track, document, and update the project schedule and lists of required deliverables include Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, equipment data sheets, specifications, and other required documents.
- Ensure timely delivery of all documents and hardware to both internal and external customers.
- Review and approve engineering related deliverables.
Departmental Specific
- Responsible for ensuring that Project Engineers comply with existing TAS process standards including project engineering logs, non-conformance reports, engineering change notices and corrective action reports.
- Assist Project Engineers to ensure their project responsibilities are carried out.
- Interface with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and the Customer. Assist with the management of the efforts of discipline engineers such as Electrical, Controls, Process, and Application Engineers as well as Drafters and Designers.
- Assist both Project Management and the Customer Service Manager and technicians to solve field related problems.
- Assist Project Manager and the Procurement Manager in overseeing the purchasing of all mechanical equipment.
- Assist Production Department in purchasing and assembly.
- Track, document, and update all project schedules and lists of required deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, equipment data sheets, specifications, and other required documents.
- Ensure timely delivery of all documents and hardware to both internal and external customers.
- Review and approve engineering related deliverables.
- Attend project related meetings.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned by TAS
JOB SKILLS:
- Ability to design and draft with AutoCAD
- Excellent computer skills, particularly in Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, and Outlook
- The ability to effectively manage time and to effectively handle multiple conflicting tasks.
- Experienced with ASME, ANSI, NEC, NFPA, and other relevant codes.
RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in engineering and design of packaged equipment or process equipment. A minimum of 3 years as a lead engineer or project engineer/manager.
- Industrial HVAC, energy services contracting (ESCO) central refrigeration plant, or process experience required. Power industry with gas turbines is a plus.
- Experience in design and specification of refrigeration systems highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of controls and automation systems, PLC based system design and programming a plus.
- Geothermal experience is a plus
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year engineering program.
- PE/EIT registration is desirable
- Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing and comprehensive documentation.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Availability to travel to both domestic and international job sites.
- Ability to work in field construction locations, including climbing ladders, is required.
FIELD ENGINEER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Attendance to meetings and some equipment inspection in a shop environment may be required. Performs physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. . The incumbent will be subject to both “inside” and “outside” environmental conditions. Outside conditions may include standing, walking, and climbing of stairs or ladders. Extensive travel, including commercial air travel is required
