TAS Recipient of 2005 Export Excellence Award

Press Release  |  Jun 10, 2005

Houston, TX (June 10, 2005)— TAS, the world’s leading provider of large capacity packaged chilled water systems for use in Turbine Inlet Cooling of gas turbines for power plants and for use in building HVAC and District Cooling systems is the recipient of this year’s Robert A. Mosbacher, Sr. Award for Export Excellence. Tom Pierson, Founder and C.E.O. accepted the award on behalf of TAS at the 2005 World Trade Gala sponsored by the Greater Houston Partnership honoring Ambassador Peter F. Allgeier, Deputy U.S. Trade Representative and the local U.S. Congressional Delegation. Annually, World Trade Associations around the world distinguish the efforts of their communities to promote peace and prosperity through international business. This year’s event was hosted at the Intercontinental Houston Hotel with over 500 community leaders and business sponsors in attendance.

Through innovation and forward thinking, Houston based TAS, Ltd., a privately held firm that designs, manufactures and assembles packaged chilled water plants under an ISO 9001-2000 Quality Management System, has revolutionized the power, process and HVAC industries. The company, a pioneer of the packaged plant concept, has successfully manufactured over 160 systems comprising a cooling capacity in excess of 360,000 tons in its local 200,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility near downtown Houston.

Latest international successes include both air and water-cooled solutions for gas turbine power plants as part of Iraq's reconstruction efforts. Recent commercial applications include supplying 60,000 tons of chilling for a new 22 million sq.ft. residential high-rise complex in the United Arab Emirates, the largest commercial chilling project in the world. With projects operating in North America, South America, Australia, China, Africa, India and the Middle East, TAS has developed into a leading global solutions provider serving the power, process and industrial cooling markets.

In accepting this recognition, Tom Pierson noted “TAS is thankful to be based in Houston which is a great place for providing our business with an abundance of engineering and management talent, and a unique blend of skilled professionals from the power generation, refrigeration, packaging, and process industries which are all required for our packaged energy solutions. The Port of Houston has been a great asset for shipping our products and we have found excellent partners in banking, international finance, risk management, logistics and deal structuring as well as our local global customers, who have helped to make our international business ventures successful.”

TAS, Ltd. is the leading provider of packaged modular energy solutions for the power, process, and HVAC industries. TAS has a broad range of packaged and systems integration experience in three key market areas: commercial & industrial cooling; turbine inlet cooling; and CHP (cooling, heating & power). TAS has aligned itself with global strategic partners to provide quality systems and solutions based on customer needs. Visit our website at www.tas.com for more information.
