Solar Thermal

Concentrated solar projects are not abundant in the U.S. largely due to financing and water supply difficulties.  TAS Energy is reinvigorating an old market with its advanced design solar-to-power (S2P) organic rankine cycle unit.

Energy Efficiency Leader, TAS Begins Manufacturing Capacity Expansion

Press Release  |  Sep 24, 2007

In conjunction with the planned expansion of its Houston based global headquarters facility, TAS recently announced the ground breaking for a new manufacturing and administrative office building. Houston Mayor Bill White and several members of the City Council assisted TAS executive management in the official groundbreaking ceremony, which was held today at the TAS facility. This expansion will effectively double current manufacturing capacity of TAS, which was founded seven years ago, and is indicative of the strength of TAS’ core markets spanning the commercial, industrial and power generation industries.

TAS’ product development focus on the manufacturing of pre-engineered, modular, and high-efficiency chilled water and combined heat and power systems is strongly aligned with Mayor White’s vision of establishing Houston as the center of excellence in the rapidly expanding energy conservation industry. In maintaining Houston’s pre-eminence in energy, Mayor White has touted the value of positioning the city as an epicenter of this high potential growth market. Local entrepreneurial companies such as TAS are leading the way with the development of state-of-the-art energy efficiency technology.

CEO and Founder Tom Pierson was quoted as saying, "TAS’ expansion is driven by both sides of the energy supply and demand equation. Increasing global demand for peak power is fueling our turbine inlet chilling business, while an increased focus on reducing energy consumption and cost is driving demand for our high efficiency chilled water and air-cooled modular systems. Our combined heat and power solutions are also enjoying market success as companies seek to tackle high energy costs and reduce their carbon footprints. We’re continuing to expand our presence in the global energy efficiency market with the introduction of advanced heat recovery technology that converts industrial waste heat to electric power. There’s a tremendous global market for technology companies such as TAS to reduce energy consumption through efficiency gains".

TAS’ administrative offices and manufacturing facility are located in Houston’s Third Ward. The expansion of TAS’ facility further reinforces the company’s commitment to both job growth and economic investment in the city. Since its founding in 1999, TAS has been a stabilizing local presence in the Third Ward, currently retaining nearly 200 local employees.
