TAS Packaged Central Plant Delivers Value to Isle of Capri Casino at Miami Racetrack

Press Release  |  Jun 27, 2005

Houston, TX (June 27, 2005)—W. G. Yates and Sons Construction Company required an expedited and cost effective cooling solution to support a casino project award at the Isle of Capri’s Pompano Park Race Track project just north of Miami, Florida. Immediately following the approval of Broward County’s election initiative to allow gaming at their four racing venues, TAS was contacted to supply their unique modular plant solution to satisfy the project’s aggressive construction schedule, tight budget constraints and exceptionally high operating efficiency requirements. The project’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing firm, Giovanetti-Shulman Associates, headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, recommended a TAS packaged central plant solution based on their two preceding TAS projects that successfully met other unique quality, performance and delivery requirements for Harrah’s Entertainment Casinos near Shreveport, LA and Philadelphia, PA. Giovanetti-Shulman Associates, with over 20 years mechanical and electrical engineering design experience, has a strong record in working with the gaming, entertainment and lodging industry.

TAS is providing a fully operational 4,800 ton chilling plant, including all operational components, Trane EarthWise™ chillers, pumps, cooling towers, fully automated and energy optimized controls, valves and piping, insulation, housings rated for 140 MPH hurricane winds, air conditioning and heating units, and all electrical, lighting and power devices. TAS is also providing three integrated houses that will support fire pumps, electrical switchgear and other ancillary mechanical plant functions.

TAS’ pre-engineered and pre-fabricated approach to assembling packaged central plants out of their 200,000 sq. ft Houston manufacturing facility, allows for construction to occur in a controlled and quality assured environment unaffected by weather delays, site production complications, and unpredictable or unforeseen trade coordination trouble.

Craig Hurlbert, President & Chief Operating Officer of TAS, Ltd. commented “The owner of this important project recognized the long-term value of the TAS packaged plant solution which will afford Isle of Casino with significant annual operating savings as compared to the traditional field-erected chiller plant. This high-efficiency, low operating cost system combined with reduced installation cost, reduced project development schedule, and high-quality factory manufacturing will deliver the highest net present value and lowest life cycle cost system for the end-user.”
